Associate Director / Director, Public Affairs (Financial services)

We’re looking for an Associate Director or Director with experience advising clients in the financial services sector to join our expanding Public Affairs team. You’ll drive high-impact campaigns that shape policy, influence decision-makers and deliver results for our financial services clients.

About Bradshaw Advisory

Bradshaw Advisory is a cross between a public affairs agency, a think tank and an economics/data consultancy, which means we work on a huge variety of projects and wrap around our clients' issues with a multi-pronged approach.

Our business model is to offer “high-value, low-volume” support. The team is made up of experienced professionals who work with a small number of clients whose challenges are particularly complex. We are public policy experts, confident in navigating the interplay between business, politics and regulation. Above all, we know what a persuasive argument looks like. Our clients are world-leading companies across a variety of sectors, including financial services - banking, insurance, fintech and investment.

This is a fantastic time to join us in our growth journey. We are a small firm with big ambitions. We continue to grow year on year, and this brings opportunities for our team/you. We push back on boring corporate culture and detest bureaucracy. We are a fun bunch, and our clients appreciate this. We operate like a scrappy startup and will retain this small company culture. We are a team and operate a flat structure with as little hierarchy as possible. We’re absolutely a meritocracy, and your efforts will be rewarded in a timely fashion as we continually assess pay and benefits. You will be provided with autonomy and responsibility (whilst being fully supported) from day one and have the opportunity to make a sizable impact.

We work a 4-day week to enjoy a 3-day weekend and emphasise the importance of our people having a healthy life integration. All colleagues have a generous annual leave allowance, and bank holidays can be flexed to use as you like.

Our offer

  • Generous annual leave - 27 days (34 days, 5 day equivalent) plus (non-pro-rated) bank holidays

  • High-spec Apple or Samsung laptop of your choosing

  • 5% employer pension contribution

  • London (Westminster) and Manchester offices

  • Very flexible work, choose the working pattern you prefer

  • Work from abroad when you like

  • Part-time options (e.g. 3 days per week is possible, if you prefer)

  • Private health care (for you and your family) and an employee assistance programme (EAP)

  • Uncapped sales bonus of 10% above 125% of pro-rated gross salary

  • Company wide bonus for hitting revenue target

  • Equity/shareholder options to share in the growth of the company

  • Four away days per year, including abroad and 5* hotels

  • Generous learning and development budget (multiple thousands)

  • Bonus week of holiday at 3 years and a paid 4-week mini-sabbatical at 5 years

  • Enhanced paternity and maternity leave and pay

  • Salary sacrifice electric vehicle and childcare options (other salary sacrifice options available upon request)

What we are looking for

  • Experience advising clients in the financial services sector, and deep understanding of the relevant political, policy and regulatory landscape

  • Proven ability to win work (retainers, ideally)

  • Well networked within Westminster and Whitehall, and can build new relationships

  • Skilled at the art of getting things done

  • Positive attitude and mindset

  • Communicates complex ideas with clarity, both verbally and in writing

  • When faced with an obstacle, thinks creatively of potential solutions/options and can make decisions to push things forward

  • Provides clear opinions and recommendations

  • Enjoys a diversity of work

  • A curious and lifelong learner

  • Likes to have fun and has a good sense of humour

  • An empathetic leader who gives their time to develop those around them

Core Responsibilities

  • Pursuing your own work-winning leads. You will win at least 125% of your salary per year that is directly attributable to you (new leads or expanding existing clients)

  • Supporting others to win work

  • Development and enhancement of the public affairs practice

  • Creating delivery strategies to help financial services clients achieve their policy/advocacy objectives

  • Contributing to think-tank style report development and writing Substack articles

  • Collaborating with the economics and data team

  • Growing your political and media contacts, especially those relevant to financial services

  • Organising high profile events and dinners

  • Delivering projects and building relationships with senior financial services clients alongside a high-performing team

  • Manage and conduct research and analysis on political and policy issues relevant to financial services clients

  • Lead from the front and ‘muck in’ across the business to grow Bradshaw Advisory

Please note that we are only able to consider applicants who have the right to work in the UK.
