Risk of dying from COVID-19 per age group

Latest data shows the chance of dying from COVID-19 if you are under 14 is 1 in 3,579,551 compared to 1 in 55 for those over 90 years old.

COVID-19 death rates are are highly variable with age. For people aged between 25 and 44 the chance of death is 1 in 34,354. The risk of death rises sharply with age thereafter. For those aged 90 and over, there is a 1 in 55 chance of death from COVID-19.

As percentages of the five-year average death rates, COVID-19 accounts for 2% of deaths in children aged under 14 years, compared with 58% for people aged 75-90, and 52% in those aged over 90 years.
